The McCall Chorale draws its membership from the surrounding communities of Cascade, Donnelly, McCall, New Meadows, Riggins, and even Council and Indian Valley. Our choir consists of people with diverse backgrounds and musical experiences. There are no auditions; we only ask that you are willing to commit your time and energy to practice on your own, and attend rehearsals and performances. We sing a wide variety of music including sacred, secular, classical, popular, and contemporary. The number of singers varies with each performance between about 25 and 40, though there are 90 members on our mailing list. Singing in the McCall Chorale is a great way to learn to sing better. We are a friendly group and encourage anyone with interest to join! Prospective members are invited to sing with us for several rehearsals (free of charge) to help make a personal decision about their musical ability in relation to the group. What brings us together is our joy of making music and sharing it with others. AttendanceIt is our hope that members will attend as many rehearsals as possible. Every rehearsal has new changes in music dynamics and tempo and we are only as strong as our weakest member. If you do require an extended absence please inform your section leader. Your attendance is required at the dress rehearsal MusicMembers of the Chorale will be expected to purchase music for each performance. The cost of music per performance generally runs between $30-$40 dollars. This money is due at the first rehearsal; however, no one is turned away for inability to pay—scholarships are available. Members are also responsible to provide a black one-inch three-ring concert binder for their music. RehearsalsBe prepared, be on time, and remember your music!! The McCall Chorale currently performs two concerts each year. The Christmas Community Carol-along, a long-standing McCall tradition, is on the second Sunday and following Monday of December and is consistently our best-attended event. We also prepare a Spring Concert in late April or early May. Carol-along rehearsals start in mid-October and are held twice a week, usually on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm. Rehearsals for the Spring Concert start in March and are twice a week, usually on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm. All rehearsals are held at the Community Congregational Church at 901 1st Street in McCall. Performance AttireConcert dress for all members of the choir is black: black top, black pants or skirt, and black shoes. Women can wear a dress if they like but it must be all black. Men can wear a tie but it must be black. Please wear comfortable shoes since you will be standing for long periods at a time. Small earrings are okay. Please do not wear perfume, scented hair spray, cologne or aftershave. Scents can irritate allergies and interfere with the voice. |
Director - Tyler VanceMembership AreaThe McCall Music Society will be performing their annual spring concert on Friday, May 27th and Saturday May 28th, 2011. We are seeking people who would either like to sing in the chorus or play in the orchestra for that concert. The choir will be rehearsing on Monday nights, beginning April 4th from 7:00-8:30 pm and the orchestra is rehearsing on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm beginning March 31st. Rehearsals will be held at the McCall Community Congregational Church. The chorus will be performing the music of Dan Bukvich of The University of Idaho. Dan will be in McCall with some of his students to conduct the choir for the concert. His music is very upbeat, and fun to sing with a jazz swing to it.
